Swimming-1
Excited and enthralled I was for swimming after almost 4 years. Quickly I changed into my swimming costumes and began with stretches and warm up. Before entering the pool, Mr.Mani, our swimming coach gave some instructions to be followed in the pool post which I dived into the pool and went for one lap.
After this, Sir began with breath holding and why it's necessary. It increases our lung capabilities and makes us swim faster as we don't waste much time taking side breaths. Initially I couldn't hold much even after being an experienced yoga student. I felt embarrassed but Mani sir knew exactly why I was like this. He said 'Swimming is a sport where you need to relax, calm yourself physically and mentally. Swimming can only be done properly when your mind is peaceful and calm. Relax. Take deep breaths and do it again' And after this, each try my holding capacity increased by 5 seconds and my highest became 45secs from 20 secs.
Swimming in one breath was the next workout. He wanted us to swim as far as we can in one breath. His encouraging words and support is what got me fascinated to swimming. Again he said 'Do as much as you can. doesn't matter if it is only a few centimeters but it should be your best. We are here to improve. Don't take tension and do how much ever you can'. And there we went doing our best.
First class got us tired and hungry. We swam for one and a half hours straight and went to the cafeteria directly.
Swimming has always been my favorite sport but I wasn't encouraged to swim after I completed my 6th Grade. I got entangled with studies but now I find swimming a stress reliever, more like a pain killer. Once I am in the pool, as taught by sir, my mind automatically stops thinking and tries to relax. It gets my mind stable and helps me focus on work later.
