SIMUN - 5
At this point, I had my boards, my EE was falling apart, TOK questions were out, we had our mock exams and then there was SIMUN. Our target was 500 delegates and barely touched 250 by now, we were all very upset and on a Facebook group we were discussing what to do. These were a few ideas I came up with and started implementing them in order to get more and more delegates:
1) Call up as many IB schools as possible. Three of us sat in a room. One searched for schools in the given locality, one spoke on the phone and the other made a note of their response. This was we covered around 50 schools a day in a locality. We weren't getting a good response, so this method ended in some days. Most of the schools were shutting in April, so we had to contact the students directly.
2) Ambassadors. This worked like a charm. I caught hold of a few students from different schools and made them their school ambassadors. They in turn brought us 15 delegates and more ambassadors from other schools. This was extremely taxing on me because I was part of so many ambassador Whatsapp groups and my phone was flooded with messages and queries. I had to constantly update every group and notify every ambassador, keep track of their delegates and make sure their registrations were being done.
3) We were marketing only on Facebook, no other place or site. So I decided to make an Instagram and Snapchat page and give live updates so we had more followers. Similarly, I got posters and flyers printed and got them distributed on the famous food joints where you would find a lot of youngsters and MUN crowd. This also worked but not to that extent.
4) A challenge. Haven't we all heard of "#DontJudgeMeChallenge" and "IceBucket" Challenge? Well we started our own challenge called #DrenchedInRed. Holi, the festival of colours was round the corner and so this seemed like a perfect fit.
On this day of colours, the SIMUN team welcomes you to paint the town red! Expose your creative hats and conjure your masterpieces with red- be it posters, photos, videos, music or anything that can rake your brain.
