Journal 5: Lights, Camera and ACTION
Next, as the overall
in charge, my job was to keep everyone engaged in various tasks. So I
divided the team where few made oreo milkshakes, two of us made
lemonades, three of us set up the stall, two of us divided the food
for the evening and morning, two of us took CAS evidences, and I
divided the initial cash for the three counters. Soon after the stall
was set up, we tasted the dishes. Then we started poring the oreo
milkshakes and lemonades in cups and refrigerating it. Post this, we
set on our works.
At the beginning I
helped and instructed one of my friends on how to use the oven and
helped her in the heating the patties after which I helped in serving
the guests and keeping the food ready. At the same time, I also
looked after the cash collected. Occasionally we would put up an
extra counter to reduce the crowd size. Here I did the billing work
and handles the guests.
At the same time, we
did not want to waste the food we brought so using the software we
could find out what sold the least (apparently cupcakes) and then I,
along with the team members approval sent two people with one box of
cupcake to the audience. Minutes later they came back with the empty
box and a bag full of cash, immediately our face light up and another
set of items were sent. We also changed the price of the items
according to the demand, so we increased
the prices of
lemonades and coke and reduced the prices of cupcakes and gulaab
jamoons. This cycle went on till the night and I had to constantly
check on the stock and send people to sell food quickly.
One of my friend at
the stall and I had one phone each, to contact each other and
collaborate, to check stocks whilst I was at the stall monitoring the
sales. Watermelon and lemonade were selling the most due to the
scorching heat.
The sales reduced drastically and there was ample of food left. Hence quickly we decided to make combos and go to the audience and sell food. Pani puri and mad angle chaat got sold quickly while the sales for gulaab Jamoon stayed minimal. Beverages were sold out and towards the end we sent three people with sufficient food towards the exit to sell as much as possible. At the same time the sales on the stall increased exponentially and only a pandemonium was created.
Closely after this, we closed the stall as most of the food got over. The remaining food was distributed to the helpers and we brought some too. I, again with Nivya ma'am, totaled the cash and we made a grand total of around 72K while the rest of the team cleared the stall. All of cheered and were in sheer delight. We then apologized to each other for letting out our frustrations during the day and thanked each other.
The experience was surely worth the time and effort!
