Volunteering day 3

Today was our last day as the school was breaking for summer vacation. I met this girl who was 10 years old and had dwarfism. She was completely normal mentally but because of her size she could not go to normal school. Even when she did, other kids would make fun of her which is why she was shifted to this school. It may be very common to see a different kid in this school but she got me thinking. I was bullied as a kid, I came home crying everyday because my fellow classmates made fun of me for wearing the same clothes twice in a week, every single day I felt alone and cornered but I was completely normal physically. What this child would have gone through in a normal school is beyond my imagination and after everything, she still smiles and dances around! What is more inspiring than this? I know the whole volunteering experience is not about me, it's about the kids but these kids showed me a new perspective in life. They taught me no matter what happens in life, however difficult it gets, there is a solution, just smile and let it come. No matter what, smile through the day and you will definitely feel better. Last few months I have been so busy with university applications and deciding my career that I forgot how magical it is to be alive and happy. So to sum it up, I learnt how to be courageous and happy in every situation because a day without smiling is a day wasted!
