Rajasthan Diaries: Family love

Beating the heat
After holi, I had 5 days to stay in Bikaner with my family. Most of my cousins had their final exams so I was either spending time with the tiny tods or the elders of the family and this itself was a great learning experience. The kids were so energetic and hyper, I see why I was called 'the monkey' at school, this is where I got it from. It was so hot, yet nothing brought down their spirits. They'd still run around every house and play. I was drained in the afternoons because of the heat and they were so hyper, I just couldn't understand where did they get such spirits and energy from. My nani (materal grand mom) used to make badaam ka halwa (a dessert involving almonds and a lot of ghee) every single day and by the time I had to leave, I had already gained 5kgs. I knew she wanted me to put on weight, I just knew it.

Anyway, the elders were mostly curious about my next ventures and my college plans and majority of them were trying to make me stay in India. The word had spread very quickly and I found so many plans I didn't know I had (PEOPLE LOVE TO MAKE STORIES). One cousin said I was going to Russia other thought I was going to China and the word spread, nobody knew what I was doing. It was funny how words spread and become a new story altogether. Anyway, apart from this I also went exploring the city and celebrated the women's day. Writing about it in my next post.
