IIMUN Day 3
Duration:
13 hours
Today,
I somehow managed to get the whole committee together and negotiate.
By 11am I submitted Draft Resolution 1.o, the only resolution
presented by this committee. I had simple majority on my side but my
aim was an unanimous vote. I negotiated, changed some terms with the
Gulf countries and convinced them to agree with this resolution.
During
the Q&A session for Draft resolution 1.o, France and I stood to
answer them but all the questions were focused on USA. One particular
which caught me was by Pakistan, it was as follows:
Pakistan:
How do you your network is safe and secure?
USA:
We have the best IT team looking after it
Pakistan:
ISIS has the best hackers delegates
I
was shocked, I didn't know what to tell but then quickly I said
USA:
We have the best ethical Hackers bro!
At
this moment there were loud applauses and laughter, I thought I was
wrong but then the chair said it was a good point.
After
lunch we starting with voting in a role call format. Countries on my
side were passing the vote, I started feeling that maybe it won't
pass and committee will fail. Soon the calls went on and I had nobody
against the Resolution, only one abstained from vote and the ones who
passed voted for the resolution and yes I knew I had made it through.
Soon
after this we had a chill session where we spoke to each other and
laughed as individuals and not delegates.
We
then had the closing ceremony where awards were given. I expected the
delegate of France to get the best delegate award. When the chair
announced the best delegate as United States of America, I was
shocked. Our school also got the best delegation award and were
further invited to IIMUN Mumbai for the Championship conference.
