IIMUN Training session 5
Duration
: 2hrs
Today
was the big day. For UNEP, I conducted a mock committee session and
to my surprise these tiny tots did extremely well. They raised many
motions for moderated caucuses and maintained decorum which many fail
to. Their speeches were excellent and they carried the confidence,
had a strong voice. Few delegates also raised challenges and one on
one Q&A sessions. At the same time we had some silent delegates
who were pushed to do better. We, the EB members, would recognize
them on purpose and ask them to speak. Simultaneously, the DISEC team
was completing the research. Since we had a lot of huge official
documents to read and comprehend, we took a lot of time for research.
Once we got a fair picture of the topic and what we had to do, I
conducted a mock session with DISEC team. This was totally opposite
to one in UNEP. Everybody were hesitant and unclear about the ROP, so
I had to brief them again. I told them about the importance of mods
and how they help us understand a sub topic clearly.
After
explanations and hints, the committee did fairly well. To add some
spice and make the silent delegates talk, I introduced crisis which
consisted of Israel and Greece, both of whom were silent and not
confident. Their performance shocked me. After pushing them a little
and telling the possible solutions they could use, the delegates of
Israel and Greece built it up into a challenge and came up with a
peaceful solution.
