Reflection: Soccer fest
This food stall was very different from the previous one in terms of
the difficulty, time and number of students. Since we had to run the
stall for 3 days in a row, our planning had to be tiptop and
detailed. We were given information 2 days prior to the stall and
this made it really difficult to add in new and creative items. And
since most of them already had duties given, we were out of people to
help us out, though many pitched in later.
We had to be creative in the way we
would provide the item because it had to be tempting for the
customers and cheap and easily available for us. This was a difficult
because we didn't have time to prepare and keep all the items ready.
Furthermore, this was the second food stall we hosted but our
customer were different, it was students from different schools, with
different tastes. So we had to plan something which looked good and
sounded nice i.e. the name had to be really creative and tempting,
only then would our product be irresistible. This made our job all
the more difficult.
We opened the stall only for 2 hours a day and not a single minute
would go without sales. There would be a swarm of people jumping over
the line, pushing each other and creating a turmoil and there comes
my role, smooth and efficient functioning of the stall. I had to
control the crowd and not sound rude or mean. So immediately we
opened two more counters and kept dividing the crowd and spreading.
This prevented the swarming and screaming by the customers. Since the
majority our customers were students who were under 13, we had to be
extra sweet and nice.
