Reflection: IIMUN
This
IIMUN was clearly different from the first one. I was more confident
and I knew my stand clearly. Furthermore, this time I had a country
with a strong say unlike the last one. My country position was strong
which made my position in the room stronger.
I
had to play the role of a confident delegate because USA was very
clear about strikes, no denying, it strongly says that USA will
continue striking until all the threats to USA is removed. This part
was a little challenging because other delegates hated the fact that
USA did strikes because this gives USA the power to attack anyone
anytime.
The
most challenging part of this MUN was the fact that all my allies
went against their country policy and against USA. Now putting sense
in them was difficult because they didn't care about their policies
at all.
I
surely did a lot of lobbying and sugar coating. I had to make my
point in an assertive manner because being sweet didn't work in this
committee, everybody in the committee listened to people who were
loud, confident and fast speaking.
Furthermore,
I had to be a keen listener to note and understand every point a
delegate said to know their stand and on how to tackle them. I was
questioned a lot of times and at one point I told them
honestly
that I didn't know the answer and would come back to them with an
answer. This way I learned to accept defeat and realize that it's
okay to not know the answer, what matters is how you accept it and
improve yourself.
