IIMUN Training session -2

This was my first official session with my committees. I was in charge of two committees: UNEP and DISEC. I was also the delegate of USA in DISEC. So for the next two hours I had to manage about 30 people and train them. Fortunately my friends volunteered to help.

I started with UNEP. We discussed on the effects, causes and possible solutions to global warming. To my shock, few fellow students had a document ready with the answers and they came up with 50 and more possible solutions. Few students also went on to argue that maybe global warming was an illusion and this opened a lot of windows and brought in creativity.

After this I went to DISEC while UNEP members were researching and digging deeper. DISEC's agenda was legality of drone warfare and fortunately USA had a major role in it. This made me work harder. We had discussions on what are the possible reasons on why a country wouldn't want drones and found their counter points. We also went on going through the past resolutions and official UN documents. After allotting DISEC their work I went back to UNEP where I told them about the importance of official and authorized sources.

I, along with a friend, briefed UNEP about the opening speech and how to go about it.
